Silver Ridge Retreat has a private 1870s silver mine on the property. Overnight guests can walk to it through rainforest, then look for glow-worms, growing stalactites and cave spiders in the old workings.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Silver Ridge Retreat from Cradle Mountain?
About 35–40 minutes’ drive south. We are also about 10 minutes from Sheffield, 35 minutes from Devonport Airport and the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, and 75 minutes from Launceston.
Do I need to pay a deposit when I book?
Usually no. Book on this website and pay on arrival. Free cancellation is available up to 7 days before arrival (see booking terms). A deposit may be asked for some large multi-cottage group bookings.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes — 2 nights year round.
Are the cottages self-contained?
Yes. We have Superior Cottages, Spa Cottages, a Spa Suite and a Studio. Most have full kitchens; the Spa Suite has a kitchenette for light meals. Linen, towels, WiFi and reverse-cycle air conditioning are included.
Do you have a pool and other on-site facilities?
Yes. Guests can use the heated indoor pool with Mount Roland views, a guest laundry, BBQ and picnic tables, and our historic 1870s silver mine (glow-worms and limestone formations).
Are pets allowed?
No. Because this is a working farm and wilderness setting, we do not allow pets.
Should I book direct?

Is cancellation free?
Yes. You can cancel free of charge up to 7 days before arrival when booking direct on this site. After that, the booking terms on the booking page apply.
